The price of sending an SMS is usually quoted on a per-unit basis. But this price depends on many factors that are not always visible! They can increase the price of your SMS campaign from one to six times... Certain options, billed in parallel, increase the total cost of the operation.

This is the main factor. Many SMS platforms will offer you a sliding scale of charges. You won't pay the same unit price depending on whether you send 200, 5000 or 100,000 SMS...
In fact, these platforms use a tiered system that unlocks more advantageous prices. The aim? To get you to buy more SMS messages (at the expense of efficiency?) in order to pay less per unit.
A precise send time is an important parameter in your campaign. At the cheapest rate, you won't always be able to choose the send time. On some platforms, this is a price factor. In this case, a specific dispatch time can be included in the premium options. On the other hand, the cheapest rates will send your SMS at any time (within the legal time window).
This is an indispensable option for business SMS: customer reminders, marketing SMS, after-sales service... By personalizing the sender, the recipient won't see a number, but the name of your company. It's an indispensable option that can impact the price of your SMS campaign - and encourage you to choose a quality service provider.
Other options can influence the price of your SMS campaign. Acknowledgement of receipt, management of response scenarios, long SMS, SMS enriched with images (MMS), customer file segmentation, etc...
Don't have a customer file? In addition to charging for the mailing, some service providers offer to rent you one of their customer databases. This contains a large number of SMS marketing contacts who have agreed to receive promotional messages.
This practice is not recommended! The customer base you rent may be of very variable quality, and contain many false contacts. What's more, this method is akin to spam, with very low conversion rates.

Based on these price factors, the cost of an SMS campaign can vary widely! Depending on the platform, the unit price can range from €0.04 to €0.25 for a premium SMS with image (or MMS).
At entry-level rates, you can find low-cost SMS messages, with no options, in very high volumes. Prices start at €0.04 per message, i.e. around €400 excluding VAT for 10,000 SMS. For smaller volumes, the unit price is higher: around €15 for 200 SMS.
For a professional SMS with options (personalized sender, customer base segmentation, contextual messages, etc.), you need to invest an average of €0.07 per message sent. For example, it will cost you €700 excluding VAT for 10,000 SMS messages, or €14 for 200 SMS messages.
Finally, for SMS messages with images, some platforms offer a price of around €0.25 per message (for small quantities). The price decreases once a certain volume is reached. You'll pay around €50 for 200 MMS, or €2,000 for 10,000 MMS.
